Russia harvests 71 million tonnes of grain so far
                           


Russia has harvested 70.8 million tonnes of grain, including 45 million tonnes of wheat so far, announced the Agriculture Ministry.

 

Russia harvested 90.8 million tonnes at the same time last year.

 

Grains and pulse crops have been harvested on 28 million hectares, with about 19 million hectares to go. The yield is 2.53 tonnes per hectare, down 130kg per hectare compared to 2008.

 

Russia is still harvesting sugar beet, sunflower, grain corn, rice and fibre flax. Winter crops have been planted on 7.3 million hectares, up 2.6 million hectares compared to a year ago.
