Sumitomo Chemical to Raise Its Methionine Production Capacity By 50,000MT Come Spring 2005

Japan's Sumitomo Chemical announced on Wednesday that it would increase its methionine production capacity by 50,000 tons per annum comes spring 2005, raising its total production capacity to 90,000 tons per annum. The announcement was made at a dinner reception hosted by Sumitomo Chemical for its customers and business associates in China and other Asian countries on Wednesday in Shanghai.
With an investment of US$130 million, the expansion project will raise Sumitomo Chemical's dl-methionine production capacity to 70,000 tons per annum. It would also add a 20,000-ton per annum liquid methionine production facility.
