Japan lifts ban on Korean poultry imports

Japan's agriculture ministry announced on Tuesday (Sep 7) that it is lifting a ban on Korean poultry imports.

The ministry had placed the ban back in May due to the outbreak of bird flu but it has confirmed that Korean poultry products are now free of the virus.

According to Japan's trade statistics the country imported close to 800 tonnes of poultry from Korea in 2007.

Meanwhile, Korea also resumed poultry exports to Hong Kong starting Tuesday after trade was suspended last year due to the bird flu outbreak.
