Michigan's Bareman Dairy boosts milk production
Bareman Dairy has invested US$1.14 million in a new machine that fills half-pint milk boxes at about twice the rate of its old machine.
The project will receive a 12-year Industrial Facilities Tax exemption. The tax break will mean Bareman will pay 50% of the taxes on the new equipment for the next 12 years.
"A half rate of something new is certainly better than if they don't make the investment," Holland Township Supervisor Don Komejan said.
Bareman had two machines that could fill about 180 half-pint boxes a minute. Replacing one of those with the new machine that can fill 340 half-pint milk boxes per minute will increase capacity by 50%.
