Japan guaranteed of adequate wheat supplies
Japan will have sufficient supplies of wheat despite public concern about poor harvests because the US will continue to be a reliable supplier, said US officials.
"Traditional exporters, particularly the US, maintain wheat inventories that are more than sufficient to compensate for any global wheat shortfall this year," said a statement issued by the US Embassy in Tokyo.
Pointing out that Japan is the largest buyer of US wheat, the embassy stressed the importance of the two countries' relations in the field of agriculture for the overall bilateral partnership.
