Ukraine's 2009-10 grain exports nearly 4.3 million tonnes
Ukraine has exported 4.281 million tonnes of grain since the start of the current marketing year (July 2009-June 2010), according to the Ukrainian Agriculture Ministry.
The exports included 1.991 million tonnes of wheat, 1.76 million tonnes of barley, and 440,000 tonnes of corn.
Ukraine supplied 2.155 million tonnes of grain to the foreign markets in August 2009, including 1.125 million tonnes of wheat, 880,000 tonnes of barley, and 116,000 tonnes of corn.
The Agriculture Ministry expects this year's grain harvest to reach 42-43 million tonnes, and exports for this marketing year to be at 18 million tonnes.
In addition, Georgia can import Ukrainian wheat at lower prices, according to the Ukrainian Grain Association. A cheaper supply of the wheat to Georgia will be provided by additional sea lines of the Kerch-Poti route that are planned to open soon.
