Ukraine lowers 2006 corn harvest forecast to 6.5-7 million tonnes

Ukraine is likely to harvest between 6.5 million and 7 million tonnes of corn in 2006, and not the 7.5 million to 8 million tonnes expected earlier, the agriculture ministry announced Wednesday (Sep 6).

The ministry said the reason for the lower harvest estimate was adverse weather, with heavy rains disrupting harvest.
