Market analysis

A couple of producers who halted operation during August resumed production of lysine lately. However, another manufacturer has scheduled for routine maintenance this month. Hence, most producers stood firm on prices amid tight availability.

In regions where demand firmed up traders lifted prices while feed millers increased buying.

In Europe, spot price quotes were in the range of EUR1.60-1.63/kg. Supplies of lysine in the near term were affected by the bankruptcy of Korea's largest shipper Hanjin Shipping.

For future deliveries, lysine prices were soft amid ample availability.

Market forecast

Feed demand is expected to grow as the demand for livestock products increase prior to Mid-Autumn Festival, hence lending support to China's lysine market. However, with more producers resuming operation, prices of lysine are likely to move lower amid tougher competition.
