Russia expects for the record high planted areas of rapeseed in 2012-12 harvest year.
According to preliminary data of the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), the index will total 1.2 million hectares, against 893,000 hectares in 2011-12 harvest year.
According to estimations of APK-Inform Agency, in the current marketing year the yield of the oilseed will drop to the level of 10.4 centners/hectare (c/ha), against 12.6 c/ha in 2011-12 harvest year, due to the negative impact of drought in the key oblasts growing rapeseed.
Also, in 2012-13 harvest year the general production of rapeseed will total over one million tonnes, a decrease of 5% compared to the previous year index.
We should note that the domestic consumption of rapeseed in 2012-13 harvest year is estimated at the level of 0.97 million tonnes.
