France's Quick bans pig meat
Quick, one of France's major fast food chains, has taken pig products off its menu, intensifying the debate over Muslim values.
Quick only serves halal food in 22 outlets, replacing bacon with smoked turkey and using beef killed in line with Islamic law. Stephane Gatignon, the Green mayor of Sevran, a Paris suburb, says he is worried Quick will become an exclusively Muslim restaurant there.
Abdel El Machkour, who oversees franchises in the region, said the goal was simply to serve a larger number of people.
