Analyst sees 2007 US corn crop at 13.062 billion bushels; soy, 2.682 billion bushels
US analyst firm FC Stone on Wednesday (September 5) afternoon pegged the 2007-08 US corn crop at 13.062 billion bushels and the soybean crop at 2.682 billion bushels.
The firm has estimated corn yield at 152.9 bushels per acre and soybean yield at 42.4 bushels per acre.
In the August supply and demand report, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimated 2007-08 US corn production at 13.054 billion bushels, with a yield of 152.8 bushels per acre. The agency put the soybean crop at 2.625 billion bushels, with a yield of 41.5 bushels per acre.
The USDA is scheduled to release updated US corn and soybean estimates on September 12.
In 2006, US corn production was 10.535 billion bushels yielding 149.1 bushels per acre, with soybean production at 3.188 billion bushels and a yield of 42.7 bushels.
