China bans US poultry products from Pennsylvania

China has banned US poultry products from the State of Pennsylvania on Aug 17, the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture, through the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said.

The suspension was the result of an occurrence of H5N2 low-pathogenic bird flu discovered in a Pennsylvanian bird market on Jul 12.

Poultry meat and products that were produced in, or departed from, Pennsylvania on or after Jun 21 to China shall be returned or destroyed. Poultry products shipped from Pennsylvania before Jun 21 can only be given customs clearance after passing an inspection.
