Iran Saves $1 Billion By Cutting Wheat Imports

 

Iran has saved $1 billion by spending $40 million in the plan aimed at self¨Csufficiency in wheat.

 

Dr. Sadeq Khalilian, head of the Agriculture Economy Group of Tarbiat Modarres University stated, "Instead of foreign farmers, Iranian wheat growers have benefited from the sum. Furthermore, this will help to narrow the gap between the farmers' expenses and incomes as well as lead to boosting their purchasing power."

 

The cost price of wheat production in Iran is lower than in other states. Producing one kilogram of wheat in developed and wheat exporting countries costs 2.16 times more than Iran.
