China may see lower soy imports for August 2012
China may see 4.53 million tonnes of soy imports in August, a lower forecast than an earlier projection of 5.3 million tonnes.
The Ministry of Commerce (MOC) predicted that the country's soy imports would further drop to 3.85 million tonnes in September.
High prices of imported soy are expected to suppress demand from Chinese buyers in the following months.
The report is based on importers' shipments from August 1 to 15. The MOC regularly releases its estimates twice a month.
