Thailand's August tuna prices rise to a record high
Thailand's tuna prices in August 2012 rose to a record high of US$2,280/tonne, up 23.6% on-year and 1.8% on-month with 2012's average tuna price of US$2,145/tonne, up 27.4% on-year.
Global soy and soy meal prices remain trading above average. Despite improvement in US weather conditions, strong demand for the US crop still continues as there is no alternatives for protein feed ingredients.
Domestic livestock prices remained flat from last week.
Over the past week, domestic shrimp price stayed at THB155 (US$4.96) per kilogramme (up 6.9% on-month) while farm-gate prices for chicken and pork also remained flat at THB39 (US$1.25) per kilogramme and THB62.5 (US$2) per kilogramme, respectively.
