Bangladeshi organisations cooperate in developing domestic shrimp and fish industries

Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association (BFFEA) and Bangladesh Shrimp and Fish Foundation (BSFF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to mutually cooperate in development of the country's shrimp and fish industries.

One reason for the move was to address the issue regarding an increasing number of new non-tariff barriers set by major shrimp importing countries such as the US and the EU, especially in relation to food safety and environmental and social issues.

Bangladesh's government has reportedly applauded the move and hoped that BFFEA ad BSFF would jointly plan action programmes for creating mass awarensss, and train all stakeholders of the shrimp and fish industry to effectively deal with the latest industry issues.
