Bulgaria's pork and beef exports has been restricted, according to Kostadin Chorbadzhiyski, chairman of the Association of Meat Processors in Bulgaria.

Chorbadzhiyski said that in 2008, some 1,801 tonnes of beef and 1,200 tonnes of pork meat have been exported.

He said pork meat export has increased twice compared to 2007, when only 548 tonnes have been exported, explaining that chicken meat export is higher but in 2008 it registered a 32-percent drop to 11,800 tonnes.

In August, the average reference prices of pork meat in the EU decreased by 8 percent against 2008 at EUR154.07 per 100kg. These rates are higher than the one registered n 2005 and 2006.
