Waiting period expires for Bunge and CPI merger

Bunge Ltd. said the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 relating to its proposed merger with Corn Products International, Inc. has expired, thereby satisfying a condition to the closing of the transaction.

Bunge said the transaction, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter, remains subject to the satisfaction of other closing conditions, including receipt of non-US regulatory clearances, as well as approval by the shareholders of both companies.

The companies first announced their intent to merge in June.
