China stays as Vietnam's biggest contributor of fertiliser for first half of 2012
China stays as Vietnam's biggest provider of fertilisers in the first seven months of 2012, followed by Japan and the Philippines.
During January-July, Vietnam spent US$420.7 million on importing over one million tons of fertilisers from China, up 8.04% and 18.36% on year, respectively. The fertiliser imports from China account for 50.8% on volume and 48.68% in value of the total Vietnamese fertiliser imports during the period.
Vietnam imported 173,705 tonnes of fertilisers valued at US$47.78 million from Japan during the period, up 35.58% and 69.37% on year.
The Philippines ranked the third among fertiliser exporters to Vietnam. The country sold 164,248 tonnes of fertilisers, worth at US$79.48 million to the communist nation between January and July.
Canada and Russia were the next exporters of fertilisers to Vietnam, with export values of US$109.54 million and US$75.19 million, respectively, between January and July.
Vietnam spent a total of US$864 million on imports of over 1.97 million tonnes of fertilisers from 14 markets during January-July, down 10.93% and 2.67% on year.
