Wisconsin's corn crop ahead of schedule
Wisconsin's corn crop is still ahead of schedule amid a second straight week of warm-and-dry weather.
The various development stages are well ahead of last year. About 7% of the corn is mature - much more than the normal 1% at this time. About 7% of the corn-for-feed has been chopped and 82% of the crop is good-to-excellent condition.
With reference to Wisconsin's soy, 84% of the crop is in good-to-excellent condition, but there are some reports of white-mould and sudden death syndrome.
Eau Claire is the only reporting station to have below-normal precipitation for the year. Eighty-two percent of Wisconsin farm fields have adequate soil moisture, and 10% have a surplus.
