China's Chengdu to house warehouse for national pork reserves
Chengdu City's Pujiang County will soon house the first pork storage warehouse in south-west China to be controlled by the Central Government.
The National Development and Reform Commission recently approved the proposal, which is estimated at RMB 120 million.
The warehouse, to be completed in the first half of 2009, would be capable of storing more than 10,000 tonnes of meat
Huafu Group will be appointed by the Ministry of Commerce to manage the warehouse upon completion.
The national pork reserves, a strategic resource, will be used only by the State Council to stabilise the market in case of emergency.
