KFC aims to hook chicken customers through sense of smell

Louisville, Ky.-based Kentucky Fried Chicken is aiming to boost sales by adopting a pilot programme which aimed to use the tantalizing aroma of fried chickens to gain new customers.

Boxes of KFC's chicken would be packed in mail carts making its way through the labyrinths of corporate America, hoping to entice office workers at the most critical moments- just before lunch.

The pilot programme is launching in major cities in Washington, Chicago and Dallas.

There is no better way to showcase the value of the company's US$2.99 Deal than to inject the scent of Kentucky Fried Chicken into the corridors of corporate America, said James O'Reilly, chief marketing officer for KFC.
