China's meat industry to export to Russia
The world's biggest pork producer, China's WH Group, is planning to begin deliveries of pork to Russia this year, Russia's ITAR-TASS reports.
On August 14 Russian veterinary watchdog Rosselhoznadzor removed restrictions on pork supply from China, introduced in 2002. The ban was imposed due to exporters not providing complete and accurate information about the spread of infectious animal diseases in the country.
On August 29 a meeting was held between the deputy president of the Chamber of Commerce and Local Food Products of China Yu Lu and the deputy head of Rosselkhoznadzor Eugene Nepoklonov, following which WH Group revealed their export plans.
The report also said that both parties have agreed on the supply of pork to Russia from two Chinese meat processing plants.
