China finalises tariff on American chicken products
China has set an anti-subsidy tariff of 4-30.3% on US chicken products with effect from Monday (Aug 30), the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement following a final ruling on the tariff level.
The ministry in an initial ruling in April set the tariff at 3.8-31.4%.
Major chicken producers Pilgrim's Pride Corp. (PPC) and Tyson Foods Inc. (TSN) will face duties of 5.1% and 12.5% respectively, the Ministry said on its website. These were higher than 4.9% and 11.2% tariffs imposed in its earlier ruling.
Dozens of other chicken producers will face varying rates of up to 30.3%, it said.
The anti-subsidy tariff on US chicken products, in addition to an antidumping tariff on the same products, will be in effect for five years, it said.
