US frozen meat stock plunge 20%

 

 

As of July 31, total red meat supplies in freezers were down 1% from the previous month and down 20% from last year, according to USDA's Cold Storage report.

 

Frozen beef supplies were up 4% from the prior month, but down 13% from those of July 2009.

 

Frozen pork supplies were down 5% from the previous month and down 28% from last year. Stocks of pork bellies were down 38% from last month and down 64% from last year.

 

Total frozen poultry supplies on July 31, 2010, were up slightly from the previous month but down 11% from a year ago. Total stocks of chicken were up 1% from the previous month but down 1% from last year. Total pounds of turkey in freezers were down 1% from last month and down 22% from July 31, 2009.
