Argentine July soy exports plunge; oilmeal up
Argentina's July soy exports totalled 322,267 tonnes, down sharply from 2,468,964 tonnes shipped a year earlier, according to the latest data from the agricultural health and sanitation service, Senasa.
Soy exports in July were valued at US$135 million, compared with US$902 million a year earlier.
Soy exports during the first seven months of the year totalled 3,422,356 tonnes, down from 7,157,998 tonnes a year earlier.
China is the main market for Argentine soy exports, buying 2,669,803 tonnes during the first seven months of the year.
Soymeal exports in July totalled 1,516,697 tonnes, up from 1,233,964 tonnes a year earlier.
July soymeal exports were valued at US$626 million, up from US$375 million a year earlier.
Soymeal exports during the first seven months of the year totalled 8,356,420 tonnes, up from 6,825,840 tonnes a year earlier.
During the first seven months of the year, Indonesia was the leading importer of Argentine soymeal, buying 954,394 tonnes. Vietnam followed with 861,772 tonnes.
July soy pellet and cake exports totalled 95,374 tonnes, compared with 195,503 tonnes a year earlier.
Soy pellet and cake exports during the first seven months of the year totalled 508,914 tonnes, compared with 1,503,706 tonnes a year earlier.
Iran was the top destination for Argentine soy pellet and cake exports during the first seven months of the year, followed by Malaysia and Tunisia.
Soyoil exports in July totalled 287,197 tonnes, up from 239,959 tonnes a year earlier.
July exports were valued at US$238 million.
Soyoil exports during the first seven months of the year totalled 1,960,565 tonnes, up from 1,680,139 tonnes a year earlier.
As usual, China was by far the leading buyer, buying 903,966 tonnes during the first seven months of the year.
Argentina is the world's No. 3 soy producer and exporter behind the US and Brazil and is the leading exporter of soyoil and meal.
Argentina also shipped 79,260 tonnes of sunseed oil in July, down from 83,279 tonnes shipped a year earlier.
July sunflower seed oil shipments were valued at US$63 million.
Sunseed oil shipments during the first seven months of the year totalled 380,083 tonnes, down from 483,841 tonnes a year earlier.
China has been the leading buyer of Argentine sunseed oil so far this year, followed by Egypt and India.
Argentina is the world's leading exporter of sunseed oil.
