DuPont's Optimum GAT herbicide trait gets Canadian approva

Press Release

DuPont has received full Canadian regulatory approval of its proprietary herbicide tolerance trait, Optimum GAT, in corn and soy for cultivation, feed, and food.

The Canadian regulatory approval of the Optimum GAT trait in corn and soy brings Pioneer closer to offering more technologies to farmers' fields, said Paul E. Schickler, vice president and general manager - DuPont and president - Pioneer Hi-Bred.

DuPont business Pioneer Hi-Bred has already received US approval of the Optimum GAT trait in soy and anticipates US approval of the Optimum GAT trait in corn in the coming months. DuPont is also pursuing regulatory approvals in key export markets around the world for both Optimum GAT soy and corn.

The first-ever agricultural trait developed through proprietary DuPont gene shuffling technology, the Optimum GAT trait will enable new herbicide options that will provide broader spectrum weed control without compromising crop safety.

Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, is a world leading source of customised solutions for farmers, livestock producers, and grain and oilseed processors. With headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa, Pioneer provides access to advanced plant genetics in nearly 70 countries.
