Low fish catch in China's Yellow Sea and Bohai Bay

The fishing season in northern China's Yellow Sea and Bohai Bay region will begin in September. The focus of market participants is once again on the raw material supply for producing fishmeal.

Availability of fishery resources, prices of fish and its quality, as well as the quality of fishmeal produced from it, have always attracted the attention of market participants.

In the past few days, some fishing vessels have departed from Liaoning's ports but the volume of catch has reportedly been low, mainly comprising small-sized fish which may not yield much fish oil and meal. Depending on the quality, current prices of fish for crushing ranged from RMB0.76 to RMB0.96/kg.

In neighbouring Shandong, fish catch in the past few days had also been low.
