UK 2005/06 wheat end stocks at 1.8 million tonnes
UK wheat ending stocks for 2005/06 are estimated at 1.829 million tonnes, down from previous estimates made in June and down 9 percent on the year, the UK's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) said Thursday (Aug 31).
UK human and industrial wheat use for 2005/06 is now estimated at 6.345 million tonnes, up 1 percent on the year. Of this, UK wheat is forecast to account for 5.423 million tonnes, up 1 percent on last season.
UK usage of animal feed is up 3 percent on year at 7.078 million tonnes, of which 7.019 million tonnes is homegrown.
Defra now forecasts UK 2005/06 barley ending stocks at 872,000 tonnes, down from the June estimate of 928,000 tonnes, and down 5 percent on the year.
UK cereal ending stocks for 2005/06 are estimated at 2.796 million tonnes, down from the June estimate of 2.922 million tonnes, and down 7 percent on the year.
