Bird flu quarantine lifted in China's Qinghai province

China's Qinghai province has lifted a three-month quarantine which was placed to prevent a migratory bird flu outbreak, as no new cases have been reported in the past 56 days, announced the provincial headquarters for serious animal epidemic prevention and control on August 31.

The headquarters also pointed out that the epidemic had not spread to poultry or humans.

This removal of the quarantine complies with the requirements for preventing and treating the highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu virus, assured the provincial headquarters' head Dang Chenyan.

The Ministry of Agriculture had also recently ratified the quarantine lifting in the bird flu-hit Gangca County and the nearby migratory bird habitat in mid-August.
