Pig population rises 0.7% in Ukraine
Ukraine's State Statistics Committee has reported as of August 1, 2010 a 0.7% or 60,300 heads increase in its July pig count compared with June.
Pig population grew by 0.8% or 40,100 heads compared to June, to 4,782,200 heads in private farms, and by 0.6% or 20,200 heads to 3,591,900 heads in specialised farms.
As against August 1, 2009, the pig population rose by 12.7% or 941,600 heads.
Specifically, pig population grew by 13.8% or 434,700 heads in specialised farms, and by 11.9% or 506,900 heads in private farms.
As of July 1, 2010, the pig population went up by 1.7% or 138,000 heads in June to 8,313,800 heads compared with May.
