Vietnam's aquatic product output climbs 4.6% on-year
Vietnam cities and provinces have caught 3.347 million tonnes of aquatic products from January to August, said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The total volume included 2.557 million tonnes of fish, up 4.4%, and 349,000 tonnes of shrimp, up 5.7% on-year.
Of the total volume, 1.76 million tonnes were caught from ponds, up 4.9%, while 1.587 million tonnes were from the sea, up 4.2% from the same period of 2009.
Vietnam exported US$2.95 billion worth of seafood for the first eight months of the year, posting on-year rise of 12.9%.
