Brazil assured of Saudi Arabia's chicken market access

There is no danger of a halt of Brazilian chicken exports to Saudi Arabia despite of a report saying that local producers there are accusing Brazil of dumping practices.

Local farmers in Saudi Arabia had called on their government to retaliate against Brazilian farmers due to alleged dumping practices, according to a report by newspaper Al Yaum.

But the Brazilian ambassador to Saudi Arabia stated that the newspaper was not important and that the report was probably prompted by a farmer who was unhappy over the reduction of chicken import tariffs from 20 percent to five percent.

The tariffs were reduced in order to comply with WTO regulations.

The ambassador Sergio Luiz Canaes noted that Saudi importers are satisfied with the Brazilian products, which are widely accepted among local consumers, according to the Brazilian Poultry Exporters Association (Abef).
