China develops new testing technology for pig disease
Chinese scientists have reportedly developed a new testing technology that could detect the pig disease, streptococcus suis, more effectively.
The new technology would only require 90 minutes to detect the bacteria, compared with three to seven days using the conventional method.
According to reports, experts from the Beijing Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Department and the China Veterinary Products Supervision Institute developed the technology.
A government expert team had given approval for the new technology during its appraisal.
Streptococcus suis had recently claimed the lives of about 40 people in China's Sichuan province.
