Vietnam's seafood exports surge from January to August 2005

Vietnamese seafood exports surged 13 percent year-on-year, to reach US$1.63 billion from January to August this year, the government said. Exports in August alone totalled about US$260 million.

The government added that orders from China for Vietnamese fresh aquatic products, have also increased sharply in recent days.

Experts said Chinese demand for Vietnamese aquatic products would continue to increase in September.

Meanwhile, industry reports stated that Vietnamese exporters recently received more shrimp orders from their EU partners.
