Beef Exports From Argentina Rise
Argentina exported 32,947 tons of unprocessed beef during July. This is 75% higher than figures from the previous year.
The significant growth in exports signifies that Argentina has recovered from its loss in export volumes when foot-and-mouth disease was last detected in September 2003.
In the seven months to July 2004, Argentina exported 155,177 tons of unprocessed beef, 62% more than the same period last year.
The major export destinations were Russia (24% of exports), the EU (18%), Israel (13%) and Algeria (8%). Exports were valued at US$411.5 million, 72% higher than the same period a year ago.
