Market analysis

Although the consumption of hog feed increased, feed millers held back purchases of lysine while soymeal prices softened of late. Nonetheless, lysine producers were reluctant to lower prices amid low inventory pressure.

In Europe, lysine price quotes were in the range of EUR1.61-1.64/kg for long term clients. Quotations for new clients were at EUR1.64-1.71/kg.

Price quotes for October/ November deliveries were at EUR1.55-1.59/kg.

Market forecast

Demand for hog feed will increase, lifting the sales of lysine in the coming weeks. However, several producers who halted operation for maintenance lately have resumed production. With supplies poised to expand, prices of lysine will be under pressure as producers compete to clear stocks.
