Ukraine harvests 66% of grains, leguminous plants' acreage
Ukraine harvested grains and leguminous plants throughout the areas of 9.91 million hectares, or 66% of the forecast as of August 28, 2012.
The produced volumes totalled 25.51 million tonnes of grains with the average yield of 25.7 centners/hectare (c/ha), declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
On the same date of 2011 agrarians managed to harvest 34.58 million tonnes of grains throughout 11.4 million hectares, with the average yield of 30.3 c/ha. In particular, as of the reporting date of 2012 agrarians already harvested 74,800 tonnes of buckwheat throughout the areas of 76,100 hectares (27%). The average yield totalled 9.8 c/ha.
As of the reporting date, agrarians harvested corn throughout the areas of 22,500 hectares. The production volumes totalled 65,700 tonnes, the yield - 29.1 c/ha.
Agrarians harvested 89,800 tonnes of millet throughout the areas of 76,700 hectares (45%), with the average yield of 11.7 c/ha.
Also, agrarians started harvesting sunflower seed and soy. As of the reporting date, Ukraine harvested 335,400 tonnes of sunflower seed throughout 310,800 hectares (7%) with the yield of 10.8 c/ha.
Ukraine harvested soy throughout 41,900 hectares, and produced 58,700 tonnes, the yield totalled 14 c/ha. Besides, Ukraine started field works to prepare the soil for planting of winter crops. As of the reporting date, agrarians processed the areas of 8.21 million hectares (90% of the plan).
Agrarians planted winter rapeseed for the harvest-2013 throughout the areas of 535,900 hectares (57% of the forecast).
