China's 2010 soy output estimated at 14.5m tonnes
The China National Grains and Oils Information Centre (CNGOIC) keeps its estimate of China's soy production in 2010 at 14.5 million tonnes in its latest report.
If no serious natural disasters occur, the per-unit production and total production of soy in North China's Heilongjiang, the major soy producing area, are expected to increase, it said.
According to a survey by the Ministry of Agriculture, the soy sowing area in Heilongjiang declined more than four million mu (268,000 hectares) from last year. The soy sowing area nationwide is estimated to be 120 million mu (8.04 million hectares) down six million mu (402,000 hectares) from last year.
Currently, soy is growing well across China, especially in Heilongjiang.
