Vietnam's Aquaculture Exports To EU Up 84%
 

Aquaculture consignments to the EU increased 84% compared to same period last year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP).

 

EU-bound aquatic export value is expected to further increase in the coming months. The EU has officially recognised an additional 53 Vietnamese enterprises allowed to ship aquatic products to the market.

 

The Republic of Korea has recently approved 25 more Vietnamese businesses to export fisheries items to the country. During the first seven months, aquaculture exports to Korea surged 31.5% year-on-year, totalling US$76.920 million.

 

Aquatic shipments to ASEAN, Japan and Taiwan surged 78%, 28.3% and 35.6% compared to figures in 2003. However consignments to China and Hong Kong plummeted 20.4%.

 

During the first seven months, Japan ranks first in terms of aquatic export value, importing US$378 million worth of Vietnam's aquatic products. The country currently accounts for 31.1% of Vietnam's aquaculture export market share, compared to 24.9% owned by the US.
