China's corn prices rose amidst general stability in July 2004, with the monthly countrywide average price for medium-grade yellow corn at RMB 1346 /ton, registering a month-on-month increase of 1.43%.
China was seen faced with a temporary tightness in supply of livestock products in July, with prices rising steadily, the result of low livestock farm inventories.
With the resumption of export of livestock products from China, farmers were active in replenishing their livestock inventories, driving up demand for feed ingredients. This has to a certain extent provided support for corn prices.
