Argentina's June soy exports up sharply
Argentina shipped 662,010 tonnes of soyoil in June, up 46 percent from the 453,144 tonnes shipped in the same month last year, according to the latest Agriculture Secretariat data.
The Netherlands was the largest importer of Argentine soyoil in June, buying 21,550 tonnes. India followed with 18,948 tonnes, while China bought 11,027 tonnes.
Argentina also exported 2,339,787 tonnes of soymeal and pellets in June, compared with 2,208,561 tonnes shipped a year earlier. European countries were the leading buyers of soymeal and pellets.
Argentina's June soybean exports totalled 1,075,084 tonnes, up from 879,429 shipped in June 2006.
China was the leading buyer of Argentine soybeans in June, purchasing 858,904 tonnes.
Argentina is the world's No. 3 soybean producer and exporter behind the US and Brazil and is the leading exporter of soyoil and meal.
