Argentina's June corn exports soar, wheat down

 

 

Argentina exported 1,564,223 tonnes of corn in June, up almost 150 percent from the 629,463 tonnes shipped in June 2006, the latest Agriculture Secretariat data show.

 

Spain, Egypt and South Africa were the leading buyers of Argentine corn in June, importing 219,387; 187,382 and 138,681 tonnes, respectively.

 

Argentina also exported 659,794 tonnes of wheat in June, down 22 percent from the 847,175 tonnes shipped during the same month a year earlier.

 

Brazil was by far the leading importer of Argentine wheat in June, purchasing 560,986 tonnes. Mozambique followed with 35,901 tonnes.
