Ukraine exported 2.7 million tonnes of various grains in July-August, as it plans to export about 20 million tonnes of grain in the 2012-13 season.

The ministry said in a statement the volume included 1.17 million tonnes of wheat, 1.04 million tonnes of corn and 500,000 tonnes of barley.

Exports reached 1.54 million tonnes in August 1-27, the ministry said. The shipments included 802,400 tonnes of wheat, 456,100 tonnes of barley and 252,700 tonnes of corn.

Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk last week said the exports would not exceed 1.2 million tonnes in August.

The ministry said about one million tonnes of grain, including 550,000 tonnes of wheat were waiting at Ukrainian ports to be exported.

The former Soviet republic plans to harvest 45 million tonnes of grain in 2012 against 56.7 million tonnes in 2011. Ukraine exported 21.8 million tonnes of grain in the 2011-12 season.
