Argentinean firms eye Vietnamese market

The Vietnam embassy is willing to support Argentinean enterprises to seek partners in Vietnam as well as learn about the country's import-export demands, said Ambassador Nguyen Van Dao.

It was discussed during a meeting in Argentina held on August 24 between the Vietnam embassy and 60 Argentinean businesses, which are keen in doing business such as food and seafood in the Southeast Asian country.

At a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in April, Argentine business executives showed their interest in boosting investment in the nation, particularly in energy, oil and gas, high-tech, infrastructure construction, husbandry and farm produce processing.

Prime Minister Dung pledged to offer more incentives for Argentine firms to carry out their projects in Vietnam.

Vietnam-Argentina bilateral trade value has seen increases over the last 15 years, reaching US$653.2 million in 2009, including US$53.39 million worth of Vietnam’s exports.

Vietnam's main export products to Argentina include agro products, agricultural machinery and mechanical instruments whereas imports include soy, animal feed and seafood from the Latin American country.
