Russia accepts more US poultry suppliers
The number of US poultry suppliers may be considerably increased before the end of the week, according to Rosselkhoznadzor, Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Plant Control.
"We are finishing the analysis of materials submitted by US companies on remedying breaches uncovered earlier at their enterprises. Following this, a decision may be made to open some of them for supplies to Russia," the service said.
Rosselkhoznadzor stated that it is compelled to study the materials submitted directly to the service by the US companies interested in resuming supplies, as the US veterinary agencies delay submitting these materials.
Similar procrastination is also seen in other issues. Rosselkhoznadzor said that they still had not received a response from the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the USDA for the inquiry concerning the recall of almost 1.5 billion eggs from the market due to the presence of salmonella agent.
No explanations have been given concerning the recall of a batch of meat products of Zemco Industries that may be infected with the causative agent of listeriosis, it added.
