Strike could affect Argentina soy exports
Argentine soy exports could be affected by a weeklong commercial strike that farmers called to start on Friday (August 28), the head of a grains industry group said on Wednesday.
Alberto Rodriguez, executive director of the Argentine Oil Industry Chamber and and Grains Exporters Center, said although crushers likely have enough stock to continue producing soyoil and meal, soy exporters may have to delay shipments during a weeklong strike.
Farmers plan to freeze grain and beef sales beginning on Friday in Argentina, one of the world's biggest suppliers of corn, beef and soy.
