Malta Registers Fall In Meat Production
 

Between January and June 2004, the total meat production in Malta recorded 3,907 tons. This figure is a decline of 14.7 per cent when compared to the same period last year, according to the National Statistics Office (NSO).

The number of cattle, pigs, and broilers slaughtered declined 13.2 per cent, 14.0 per cent and 17.4 per cent respectively.

When comparing the first six months of 2004 to the same period last year, cattle slaughters had declined by 15.6 per cent, pig slaughters fell by 15.9 per cent while broiler slaughters had decreased slightly by 2.0 per cent.
