France's Rouen port sees 2% rise in grain exports
Grain exports from the French port of Rouen, Europe's largest wheat-shipping hub, have risen by 2% during the most recent week of shipments bound for Algeria and Morocco.
Total grain loaded for export reached 161,036 tonnes in the August 15-21 period from 157,925 tonnes in the previous week, the Seine River port reported. Algeria received the most shipments, with an acquisition of 129,151 tonnes of wheat, followed by Morocco, which purchased 23,500 tonnes of the grain and 6,600 tonnes of feed barley.
Rouen accounted for 45% of France's soft-wheat exports in 2012-13, ahead of La Pallice on the Bay of Biscay and Dunkirk on the North Sea, according to port figures.
