Northeast China's 2011 grain output seen to rise

Northeast China is forecast to produce 120 million tonnes of grain this year, up 10 million tonnes over last year, experts say.

Northeast China, which covers provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning and eastern part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is the country's biggest grain production base, yielding about 20% of the nation's total grain output.

The Ministry of Agriculture earlier said that the autumn grain crops are growing better than last year, which will set a solid foundation for a good harvest. In 2010, grain output rose 2.9% on-year to 546.41 million tonnes.
